Oprah tops 'Highest Paid Stars On US Television' list with $260 million earnings

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has topped a list of the highest paid stars on US television, earning $260 million between June 2006 and June 2007.

Coming in at a distant second was 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell who pulled in $45 million thanks to the show and other projects.

This spot on the list went to Judith Sheindlin, who raked in $30 million for her her own syndicated court show, 'Judge Judy', reports the Daily Mail.

According to the list in the U.S. issue of TV Guide magazine, the top five was rounded off by CBS Evening News Anchor Katie Couric and 'Scrubs' star Zach Braff, who earned $15 million, and $6.30 million respectively.

The list for the top five highest paid stars on U.S. television, as per TV Guide is:
  • Oprah Winfrey (The Oprah Winfrey Show): $260 million
  • Simon Cowell (American Idol): $45 million
  • Judge Sheindlin (Judge Judy): $30 million
  • Katie Couric (CBS Evening News Anchor): $15 million
  • Zach Braff (Scrubs): $6.30 million
