Britney Spears Gets Overnight Visitations

Britney Spears has managed to convince the court to allow overnight visitations by her kids, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, once a week.

Britney’s request to allow her mother Lynne to monitor the visitations was, however, turned down by the Commissioner Scott Gordon.

Neither Britney nor Kevin was present in the court when the open emergency hearing began Thursday morning.

Britney’s attorney Anne Kiley, who requested the “emergency” hearing on behalf of her client, explained the circumstances of the request.

“I do think it is an emergency for them not to have overnights with their mother, which they’ve always had,” Kiley said. “What possible concern can he (Federline) have if there are monitors present?”

Kevin Federline attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, opposed the motion.

Commissioner Gordon, who had temporarily stripped Britney of custodial rights in an order on October 3, refused to rule on the motion and suggested that both sides further discuss the issue outside the court.

“If, in fact, there are family members who are present and trying to help, that might do some positive things,” Gordon said.

Britney made a surprise appearance at around 1:30 pm, wearing dark shades and sipping on a Coca-Cola. After being sworn in she joined a closed door hearing during which Kaplan agreed to a modification that would allow Sean and Jayden to spend one overnight a week with Britney.

Kaplan ran the change by Federline, who was not in court, and Federline agreed.

"He agreed — didn't have to — but he agreed that he would allow that I'm doing good," Kaplan later announced outside the court.

When Britney left the court room, after spending about an hour there, she looked distraught.
Later, however, she was spotted shopping at Neiman Marcus looking extremely pleased with herself and the developments of the day.
