Vanessa Hudgens dropped from third 'High School Musical' film: report

Disney Channel, which initially stood by Vanessa Hudgens following the release of her risqué photos on the internet September 6, has now decided to drop the 18-year-old from the third 'High School Musical' TV film.

"Disney finally decided that they don't want her back," an insider told OK!. "They feel that as long as Zac Efron is in the movie, all will be fine. He's the real star - the household name - and, most importantly, he comes without baggage."

Cheetah Girl Sabrina Bryan, 23, could replace Vanessa in HSM.

"The producers think that after Dancing With the Stars, Sabrina will be more famous than Vanessa," the insider added.

When quizzed by OK!, Sabrina's response was evasive.

"I love working with Disney," she said. "I'm trying to convince Disney to let the whole Disney circle of stars in. I'm just trying to convince Disney to let your Zac and Codys and your Brenda Strongs join High School Musical. We all come in and invade their high school; that would be pretty hot. Put us all together in a feature film!"

Racy photos of Vanessa, including a full frontal nude, taken by her using her own camera, surfaced on the internet on September 6, 2007.

Vanessa is believed to have emailed the risqué photos to Nickelodeon star Drake Bell a couple of years ago, before she became famous.

In a statement issued on Sep 7, Vanessa asked for forgiveness from her fans, and said that the situation has left her embarrassed.

"I want to apologize to my fans, whose support and trust mean the world to me. I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken these photos. I am thankful for the support of my family and friends," she said.

To begin with Disney Channel, which is negotiating with the High School Musical cast, including Hudgens, for a third installment of the movie series, appeared to stand by its leading lady.

"Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she's learned a valuable lesson," Patti McTeague, a spokesperson for the network said.
