Britney Spears' new album gets rave previews

Britney Spears' comeback album, released to the press for preview, has drawn positive comments from critics. The album is largely a blend of technopop with the pop star's distinctive vocals.

Jive Records plans to release the album on Nov. 13 through SonyBMG, which is also planning to release Alicia Keys' As I Am on the same day. Jive is unfazed by the clash since it believes the two albums address different constituencies.

Britney's album is still officially untitled and its artwork is not yet ready.

At Jive the production of the album was overseen by Dallas-based Theresa LaBarbera Whites who is credited with discovering Beyonce, Destiny's Child and Jessica Simpson and steering their careers.

The first track on the album Gimme More premiered on New York City radio station Z100's web site on August 30, 2007 and has met with excellent response.

The second number on the track Piece of Me, which may well be the eventual title of the album, was written and produced by Bloodshy and Avant. It is rant about the treatment meted out to Britney especially by her critics and the tabloid press.

It opens with the line: I'm Mrs American Dream, since 17, they want a piece of me.
It goes on with lines such as:

I'm successful, rich and famous, I'm Mrs Oh My God I'm Britney Shameless, I'm Mrs Extra, Extra, This Just In, I'm Mrs She's Too Big, She's Too Thin.

Another track called Heaven on Earth, written by a California duo called Freescha, has drawn the attention of critics. Roger Friedman of Fox News who call it "…a smash, I think. It's a totally original dance track that comprises a distinctive and catchy melody. It sounds fresh and exciting, and it's eminently hummable."

Other tracks include Break The Ice, produced by Timbaland Nate "Danja" Hills who has also done Gimme More, Radar produced by Bloodshy and Avant and Cold As Fire produced by rapper T-Pain,
