Mariane praises Brad Pitt for keeping 'A Mighty Heart' about Pearl

Mariane Pearl has praised Brad Pitt for telling her slain husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl’s story in the movie adaptation of her book ‘A Mighty Heart’, and not using the film to espouse a certain political agenda.

Mariane reveals that she wasn’t sure about making the movie until she met actor Brad Pitt.
The 29-year-old wrote ‘The Mighty Heart’ which tells the full story of the life and brutal murder of her husband.

The movie version of the book stars Pitt’s girlfriend Angelina Jolie as Mariane and Dan Futterman as Daniel Pearl.

Mariane insisted that she was not sure about the movie until she gave the rights of the book to Pitt, who actually read her complete 2003 memoir and was interested in Pearl and not any politics related to terrorism.

"I wasn't even sure if I wanted to do a movie. Everybody was using terrorism for their own political agenda and, really, this is a story about Danny. But when I met Brad - well, out of all the studios, he was the only one who had actually read the book,” Contactmusic quoted Mariane, as saying.

Mariane revealed that it was only the ‘direct connection’ she felt with Pitt, and later Jolie, that convinced her that they were the right ones to make the movie.

"He was the only one who I had a conversation about what happened to Danny. And I could see that he wanted to have children and raise them in a world of tolerance. I don't think I could have done it if I didn't feel a direct connection to Brad and, then, Angie,” she said.

Pearl was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan while he was investigating the case of Richard Reid, the shoe bomber, and alleged links between Al Qaeda and Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
