Liz Hurley steals the limelight at Cannes

The stars came out in all their glory for the opening day of the Cannes film festival, but it was British beauty Elizabeth Hurley who stole the limelight.

Hurley, was in the French city not to promote a movie of hers, but for a party thrown by jewelers Chopard, that took place later on in the evening on May 16.

The star, who is famous for making heads turn, didn’t fail to do so this time also when she stepped out onto the red carpet in an 8,000 pounds Valentino gown, and 1 million pounds worth of dazzling Chopard jewelry, reports the Daily Mail.

However, missing from her side was new husband Arun Nayar with whom she tied the knot in March this year.

And while Hurley certainly shone more brightly than Kelly Brook, models Victoria Silvstedt and Eva Hertzgova, and actress Andie McDowell, she will soon be facing stiff competition when Hollywood bigwigs Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, George Clooney and Julia Roberts make their appearance at the film festival.

The festival opened with the screening of My Blueberry Nights, the critically-acclaimed movie starring Rachel Weisz, who was unfortunately delayed on the set of her current film in Serbia.
