Angelina Jolie has a new tattoo on her arm – the geographical map coordinates for the birthplaces of four her children.
Though Jolie tried to keep tattoo, that has been etched onto her left arm, hidden, photogs got a glimpse of the four-part scribing on her left shoulder as she and beau Brad Pitt made their way down the famous Croisette at the Cannes film festival in their car.
The first coordinates - from the top down, and from left to right – give the longitudinal and latitudinal location of Cambodia, the couple’s eldest son, 5-year old Maddox hails from.
Mad’s coordinates are followed by those oldest daughter Zahara’s birthplace of Ethiopia, reports the Daily Mail.
The third set of coordinates point to Namibia, where the couple’s biological daughter Shiloh was born last year. The little girl, whose name means “the peaceful one”, will celebrate her first birthday on May 27 this year.
The last coordinates on Jolie’s arm point to Vietnam, the birth country of the newest addition to the family Pax Thien.
"Most of Angelina's tattoos are pretty discreet but these map coordinates really stand out," one festival onlooker said.
Jolie currently has roughly a dozen known tattoos, among them a Tennessee Williams quote "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages" which she got together with her mother, the Arabic phrase " strength of will", the Latin proverb "quod me nutrit me destruit" (what nourishes me also destroys me), and a Buddhist Pali prayer written in the Khmer script for her son Maddox
However, one tattoo that the Oscar winning actress insists she won’t be getting, is the name of her beau.
Jolie once had ex-husband Billy Bob Thronton’s name tattooed onto her left arm along with a Chinese dragon.
The tattoo was removed through laser treatment following the couple’s split. At the time, Jolie famously said: "I'll never be stupid enough to have a man's name tattooed on me again."
The actress’ new tattoo lies in exactly the same spot where Thornton’s name was once etched.
