Good Charlotte singer may have already popped the question
Did Joel Madden already pop the question to Nicole Richie?
While the couple might not be ready to tell the world, one radio DJ in Arlington might have already done it for them.
According to People magazine, following a Friday night concert with his band Good Charlotte, Joel was walking offstage when Hot 99.5’s Kane told the crowd “He got engaged yesterday. Congratulations, Joel!”
Other than a quick glance over his shoulder, Joel didn’t respond to the well wishes.
However, that was not the case earlier in the night, as Kane told People magazine he congratulated Joel before the show and the Good Charlotte frontman replied “Thank you so much.”
“They’re very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal,” Kane told People.
Although there was no sign of a pregnant Nicole at the show, she and Joel were reportedly spotted earlier in the day strolling through Washington, D.C., including a stop at the upscale baby boutique Dawn Price Baby.
But if the couple is trying to keep their engagement a secret, they’re certainly getting no help from their TV and radio pals.
Earlier this week, during a visit to “Live with Regis and Kelly,” Joel played coy when Reege appeared to let his proposal plans out of the bag.
“You’re going to present her, maybe, with — did I hear the right thing, or should I not even talk about this?” Regis said to Joel.
“Uh, what?,” a surprised Joel responded.
“A little ring, or something,” Regis probed.
“I was hoping it would be a surprise,” laughed Madden.
The one thing we do know is Nicole and Joel will soon be proud parents. In late July, the couple announced they were expecting their first child during an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer.
