Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes at the Museum of the Moving Image

Tom Cruise walked the red carpet with wife Katie Holmes besides him at the 23rd Annual Museum Of The Moving Image Black Tie Salute honoring him November 6 at Cipriani 42nd Street / New York City, NY, USA

The Museum Of The Moving Image was founded in 1977. Its mission statement is to educate "the public about the art, history, technique, and technology of film, television, and digital media and to examine their impact on culture and society."

Speaking about the event Tom told ET Online that it was an opportunity for him to thank everyone he'd worked with over the years and he was happy to avail of it.

Tom also expressed pride in his wife Katie Holmes who ran the 26.2 mile New York Marathon on Nov 4 in five hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds.

"She's an exceptional woman -- she ran that marathon, she really inspires me!" Other stars who came out for the event included Barbara Walters, Tim Robbins, Julianne Moore, Kenneth Branagh, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
