Ryan Seacrest thinks Sanjaya will get the boot, Jordin Sparks will win

The American Idol host is confident outside attempts to hijack the contest cannot stop the vocally challenged Sanjaya Malakar from eventually getting the boot because, "America hones in and gets rid of who needs to go and the best usually stay."

"Everywhere I go, people have been screaming at me to get rid of Sanjaya," Seacrest told People. "And I say, 'Too bad, you're doing it.'"

It is believed Sanjaya, 17, has survived in the contest so far because of the ability of websites like votefortheworst.com and satellite radio host Howard Stern to manipulate the show simply as a joke.

Seacrest is confident the viewers will eventually assert themselves.

"America hones in and gets rid of who needs to go and the best usually stay," he said.
He believes 17-year-old Jordin Sparks stands the best chance of being the next American Idol.

"She represents fantastic qualities," he says. "She's a great singer and a pretty girl. She's non-threatening, cute and attractive. Plus, she has this sincere likeability that is rare and genuine."
