Frenchie Davis questions 'Idol' logic

The hit series "American Idol" is once again in the middle of a controversy after scandalous photos featuring "Idol" contestant Antonella Barba hit web sites last week. Judges Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest defended the singer and she stayed on at the show.

However Frenchie Davis, who was ousted after a similar fracas in 2003, questioned the logic behind allowing Barba to stay on."I couldn't help but notice the difference between the manner in which she was dealt with and how I was dealt with," Davis told The New York Post.

She added that she was encouraged by the fact that Idol has evolved, "but if the rules have changed, I believe there should be something to make up for the fact that I was humiliated needlessly."

Davis was 23 when she was booted off the Idol for baring her breasts in salacious pictures in 2003.

She says that the pictures in question were shot five years before her Idol appearance.

"It happened and I was honest about it . . . and weeks later they decided to kick me off the show … they said it was because of the photographs, but my photos certainly weren't sexual," she argued.Since then Davis has moved on and is a successful singer.

She also stars in Broadway in "Rent", which has had a four-year run.Reacting to her comments, Fox Television said in a statement that they had no intention of raking up old stories again, "We have never discussed the specifics of why Ms. Davis was eliminated, nor will we now," a statement said.
