Rapper Snoop Dogg Gets Probation For Airport Bust

Rapper Snoop Dogg was sentenced to three years' informal probation and 160 hours of community service Thursday, after pleading guilty to possessing a collapsible baton in his carry-on bag at a California airport.

The 35-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr., must also donate $10,000 to a children's charity under the terms of the deal hammered out at Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana, California, about 34 miles south of Los Angeles.

He was arrested with the baton at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana in September 2006.

Snoop Dogg's lawyer, Donald Etra, said the baton had been used by his client in a musical sketch. Etra had advised him to plead not guilty, but said his client wanted to resolve the issue.

Snoop Dogg, who was acquitted of murder in 1993, was arrested on two other occasions in 2006 for marijuana and gun possession. He has since been denied entry to Australia and Britain.

Eminem to make a comeback after three years

Rapper Eminem, who previously said that his greatest hits record Curtain Call would be his last work as a recording artist, has decided to make a comeback with his first studio album after three years.

When Curtain Call released in 2005, Eminem declared that he is ending his phenomenal music career as a recording artist.

"I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going. This is the reason I called it Curtain Call, because this could be the final thing. I don't know," Eminem said.

The singer, who is working on his new album, said that he did not work for a while since he had to deal with a few personal things.

"I'm always working - I'm always in the studio. It feels good right now. For a while, I didn't want to go back to the studio. I went through some personal things, but I'm coming out of those personal things now and it feels good," Eminem told in a phone call to a New York radio station Thursday during a 50 Cent interview.

Rapper 50 Cent Sues Over Internet Ad Using Look-Alike

Rapper 50 Cent sued an Internet advertising company for $1 million Friday, claiming it illegally used his image in a game where the player pretends to shoot him.

The game, called "Shoot the Rapper," shows 50 Cent walking back and forth in an ad across the top of a Web page while the viewer is encouraged to shoot him by aiming and clicking with the mouse, court papers say.

A successful shot results in a misty cloud of red, and the viewer is then directed to another Web page where the ad firm's client sells goods and services, according to the lawsuit.

The rapper's lawyer, Peter Raymond, says the game doesn't use 50 Cent's name, but "it looks like him, and there's no doubt the character is intended to be him."

The lawsuit names Traffix Inc. of Pearl River, N.Y., as the defendant. A lawyer for the company, Ezio Scaldaferri, said he had not been served with the papers and could not comment.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, is a well-known victim of gun violence, Raymond said. He said the advertising company is using 50 Cent's likeness without his permission and suggesting that he endorses the game.

"For all those reasons, he is personally offended," the lawyer said.

Raymond said the rapper learned about the ad after one of his management people saw the it on a MySpace page.

The rapper's lawsuit asks at least $1 million in actual damages, a permanent injunction against the use of his image without permission, and unspecified punitive damages.

E! reality show to track Snoop Dogg's life

Rapper Snoop Dogg is all set to give fans a flavor of the Dogg family.

The multiplatinum-selling rapper has signed on to star in a new E! reality series, which intends to portray a bit of his family life.

The so far untitled half-hour show, slated for a late 2007 launch, will follow Snoop and his family in order to depict their everyday lifestyle.

"Snoop Dogg is, without a doubt, one of the most charismatic and intriguing personalities in pop culture today," the New York Daily News quoted Ted Harbert, president of the Comcast Entertainment Group, as saying.

Harbert also added that the show will track how the hip-hop star juggles between his daily business and family life.

“While he has captured a legion of fans as the king of hip hop, what makes Snoop most interesting is the side of him people have never seen. The juggling act that Snoop faces day-in, day-out between career and family is certain to resonate with our viewers,” he said.
