Gwyneth Paltrow at the Cannes photocall for “Two Lovers”

It may be hard to believe, but even beautiful Hollywood actresses struggle with insecurities. Just ask Gwyneth Paltrow.

During a press junket to promote her new flick “Two Lovers” (also starring Joaquin Phoenix) at the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival, the “Sliding Doors” cutie talked about her fear that motherhood would make her obsolete as an actress in Hollywood.

“I really did not know if there would be a place for me. Jodie Foster was right, especially if you are a woman and especially if you are not 25. Hollywood is pretty cutthroat, and everybody has a short memory. There is always someone who is younger or hotter or prettier. I was very realistic of that fact there would not be room for me. I definitely knew I had lost my place.”

Paltrow credits “Two Lovers” with getting her back on track, career-wise. “It has given me a lifeline, because I had taken a long time off work. Going from being a mother at home for a long time, which was the greatest time in my life, but also feel like an artist again ... that was a gift for me.”

Gwyneth Paltrow’s “Two Lovers”

Gracing the red carpet with her dazzling self, Gwyneth Paltrow attended the Cannes Film Festival in southern France for the screening of her new movie, Two Lovers.

Not alone on the red carpet, Miss Paltrow was joined by director James Gray, Italian designer Valentino, Israeli actor Moni Moshonov and US actress Vinessa Shaw.

Wearing a black satin Chanel dress, some eye-catching dangling earrings, and a simple-but-elegant updo, Gwyneth looked radiant as ever as she showed off her pearly whites for the camera.

The 35-year-old actress’s new movie “Two Lovers” is a Brooklyn-set romantic drama about a bachelor (Joaquin Phoenix) torn between the family friend his parents wish he would marry and his beautiful but volatile new neighbor (Paltrow).

Gwyneth Paltrow’s NYC Promotion Whirlwind

She just may be the hardest working woman in showbiz! And one look at Gwyneth Paltrow’s agenda yesterday is enough to make anyone’s head spin.

The “Shakespeare in Love” actress’ first stop of the day was at MTV’s Total Request Live, along with her “Iron Man” costar Robert Downey Jr. And she looked sexy in a black leather miniskirt, along with a black wool topcoat and a pair of shiny black heels.

From there, she headed over to the Ed Sullivan Theater to tape her appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” And while she may have shown up in workout clothes, by the time she hit the stage, Gwyn looked amazing, sporting a pair of Christian Louboutin heels.

She recently told press, “I [am] so happy people are loving it. [People] are getting so excited about it, but the truth is that the experience was so wonderful, and such a happy, happy time.
That’s really why I’m so happy that I did it. The idea that there could be another one, and we could get our little family back together — it would be great.”

Paltrow’s final stop of the day found her at the Tribeca Grand Screening Room as part of the Tribeca International Film Festival, going on this week.

And she certainly turned some heads in her Stella McCartney see-through getup as she made her way to the private screening.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Elizabeth Hurley Go Pink

It’s a great week for charity benefits in New York City. On Monday night the Food Bank of NYC had a big shindig, and last night the Breast Cancer Research Foundation held its own party, with stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Elizabeth Hurley showing support.

The historic Waldorf Astoria Grand Ballroom was the place to be last night for celebrities and charity. The “Shallow Hal” actress looked gorgeous, as usual, in a sleeveless pink gown with a black sash and handbag.

British babe Elizabeth Hurley also showed up to lend a helping hand, along with her husband Arun Nayar. And they weren’t the only ones joining in from Mother England.

Sir Elton John performed at the event in honor of his friend Linda Stein, who was a member of the foundation’s advisory board. Stein was slain in her apartment back in October.
